Shareteah Humanitarian Organization (SHO) is an Iraqi National NGO promoting safety & development through mine action and explosive ordnance risk education (EORE), to assistance for people affected by armed conflict. Founded in 2016, SHO has established its headquarters in Dohuk, Mosul, and Sinjar to effectively coordinate and execute our activities in the region. Our presence in these strategic locations enables us to respond promptly to the needs of the affected communities in the area.

As part of our commitment to child protection and education, we operate child-friendly spaces (CFS) in the Ninewah Governorate, specifically in Hatra, Tel Afar, Sinjar, and Ayadiya. These CFSs provide a safe and supportive environment for children, offering them access to educational, recreational, and psychosocial support services. Our dedicated staff and volunteers work to ensure that children have the opportunity to learn, play, and develop in a safe and nurturing setting.

By establishing these child-friendly spaces, we strive to mitigate the negative effects of conflict, displacement, and exposure to explosive remnants of war (ERW) on the lives of children in the region. Our comprehensive approach to mine action, which includes manual and mechanical clearance, explosive ordnance risk education (EORE), and non-formal education and child protection programs, aims to promote the well-being and security of affected communities.

SHO is an independent non-governmental organization and civil society organization, affiliated with the General Secretariat of the Council of Ministers, and authorized by the NGO Department in Baghdad (1l1708033) & Kurdistan Region (K3230), Iraq.
It includes the competencies of the independent Iraqi civil society and human rights activists. It is based on a sense of responsibility towards the fate of our people: their right to live a free and dignified life, in which the concepts of justice & equality are applied, and the criterion of citizenship is adopted through the rule of law.

OUR WORK

MINE CLEARANCE

Manual and mechanical clearance of urban & rural areas that are contaminated by explosive hazards, such as improvised explosive devices (IED) and explosive remnants of war (ERW); in order to return safe land to affected communities.

Activities which seek to promote behavioral change which would reduce the risk of injury from explosive ordnances, by raising awareness among girls, boys, women, and men, in accordance with their different vulnerabilities, roles, and needs.

Founded in 2016, SHO has organized and executed programs throughout Iraq, including the provinces of Nineveh, Duhok, Kirkuk, Tikrit, Anbar, and Baghdad. It currently has offices in Duhok and Mosul.
