SHO reaches 2,000,000 sqm of land cleared of explosive remnants of war.

Shareteah Mine Clearance 2000000 sqm cleared

We are proud to announce that, since the start of the project in January 2021, the SHO clearance teams have cleared a total of 2 million SQM. This is a great achievement by all staff involved and a valuable contribution to Iraq’s recovery as it allows IDPs and the local population to return to their areas of origin and to live and work in the knowledge that they are safe from the hazards of explosive odnance.

Just 1.5 years ago, SHO began its journey to become a full-fledged mine action organization, through a capacity-development program led by Swiss Foundation for Mine Action (FSD), with the support of the United Nations Office for Project Services (UNOPS, and the United Nations Mine Action Service (UNMAS).

Congratulations to the entire SHO team for this outstanding achievement and its continued growth as an organization!

Through humanitarian mine action, we can protect people from the hazards of explosive remnants of war.
